On The Bright Side…

I am a Red’s fan. Ryan is a Giants fan. We obviously want those two teams to win the World Series. If not the Reds then I hope the Giants win. If not the Giants he better hope the Reds win. If neither of these teams win, well someone else will. And of course on one level that will suck. But more than a Reds fan, I’m a baseball fan and here are some positives that would come from each of the other teams winning it all.

I’m putting these in the order I’d like them to win (following of course the Reds and Giants.)

Aubrey Huff Knows How to Offend a City (old news)

I mentioned Aubrey Huff quite awhile back in regards to the Oh Say Can You Sing CD he was featured on along with Matt Ginter, Ben Broussard, Scott Linebrink, Coco Crisp, Jimmy Rollins, Omar Vizquel, Jeff Conine, Sean Casey, and Kelly Wunsch.

Well his song was spoofed after he called Baltimore a “horseshit city”on Sirius Radio’s Bubba the Love Sponge show and I know I’m in no way breaking ground here, but I figured since I had video for his version I should put up the video of the spoof. It’s pretty funny, but watch out for language. After the break.

David Price Tweets the Truth (and quickly apologizes)

If a picture is a thousand words, how many words is a picture with words?
Whatever the answer, showing you this picture will certainly setup the rest of my story a lot better than me describing it.

UPDATED: NRI List

Just a quick note. I made some major updates to the consolidated non-roster invitee list. These updates primarily involved the Colorado Rockies, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Rays.

I hate the fact this “quick note” will get a Yankees tag, which will cause it to increase in size and might draw your attention to the fact that amidst my complaining of the media focusing too heavily on Boston and New York, I too write about them disproportionately.

And to make this more interesting. A video.

We Must Protect This Nest?

The Arizona Cardinals have come up with a ticket plan called the “Protect the Nest Plan”. Because of this plan any person who wants to buy tickets to the Cardinals/Cowboys game must also buy tickets to the Cardinals preseason game against New Orleans. That immediately strikes me as stupid. Plus it seems like they’re saying “Whoa! When the Coyboys come here it’s almost like an away game! Those Cowboys are so amazing… What can we do to change that?” I feel like they’re making total fools of themselves with this plan and they’re showing no faith in their fans.
I mean, you didn’t see the Rays taking measure like this to prevent their home games against Boston and New York from turning into away(ish) games. Instead they played amazing baseball and suddenly all of their home games feel like home games. Arizona should learn from that instead of making total fools of them selves and disappointing their fans.

What $58,245,500 gets you these days

Kansas City gets what it pays for.

At least that’s what Ben Fry’s salary vs performance graph shows as of July 2. This fun little tool measures Major League Baseball teams’ win-loss records against their payroll.

Its pretty refreshing to see the Rays with the best record in baseball — and the second lowest total payroll at $43,820,56. The cheapest talent can be found with the Florida Marlins who, as a team, make less than half of what the Rays make. That’s taking it too far though, an this graph is neat because it shows the extremes on both ends of the spectrum — the New York Yankees spend $209,081,584 on payroll compared to the next-closest team, the Mets at $137,793,376.
