Farewell Farouk!

The blundering fool Farouk Shami’s bid to become Texas’s next governor is over! Ex-Houston Mayor Bill White soundly defeated him and like 19 other candidates. I’ve already covered why I’m am so anti-Farouk Here and Here so I won’t revisit that. But if you need another reason to hate him, listen to this song… (more…)

February 2010 Link Round-up; Highlights and Lowlights

On March 1st I take my ASVAB as I begin the road to Army OCS. But before I can do that I have to post the February 2010 link dump and the military had some news that will be making this list. For starters…

An unmanned Blackhawk Helicopter is in the works
. The only drawback is this assures there will be no sequel to Black Hawk Down. <Yahoo!>

I finally saw The Hurt Lockerand I thought it was great (though I’d love to hear from actual EOD personnel). Surprisingly those brilliant people who give it out major movie awards have acknowledged it’s greatness. Will the academy? <Yahoo!>

Crime does pay, and it pays very well (in Canada). <CBC>

Ever wonder what a baseball player’s fan mail looks like? Scroll down to February 25th on Pat Neshek’s blog. (more…)

Another Political Misstep for that Blundering Fool Farouk Shami

Farouk Shami opened his mouth again. Naturally his minute shot at being Texas’s next Governor further diminished. What bothers me about this man is his arrogance. He thinks just because he is wealthy that he knows something about America, Farouk ShamiAmerican people and Texas. In fact he’s just a sheltered rube who is finally going to learn that, outside his internal group of yes-men and social suck-ups his views are ridiculous and quite bluntly stupid. (more…)

Farouk Shami… Can You Believe This Guy?!

Farouk Shami… Running for governor of the state of Texas. Palestine born, anti-Israeli, Farouk Shami. This guy makes me sick. I’ve seen him several times and met him on occasion. I saw the guy sit down at a restaurant with his driver, and then send his driver to sit at another table. He thinks because he has worked hard and lived the American dream (I can respect that) that he can be governor. Governor of the state of Texas! It’s ridiculous to even think of. Now this ridiculous man has taken another step to show how misguided and out of touch with reality he is (more…)

Documentary Round-Up

I’ve been on a bit of a documentary kick lately. I’ve already talked about I.O.U.S.A. and I just finished Maxed Out, which takes on personal debt and the credit card companies as opposed to the national debt. Just like I.O.U.S.A. it serves as a wake-up call for financial responsibility. I first had this wake-up call after attending a Dave Ramsey, Financial Peace class about a year ago and I can’t stress enough how important is for the individual to maintain financial responsibility. Debt is crushing people out there so I suggest you take control before it comes down on you. (more…)

You Owe $38,973

That’s right. Don’t believe me? Check this out. Then, by all means, do more research to see if it’s accurate. I was alerted to this by a documentary I just watched called I.O.U.S.A. It features Warren Buffet, Alan Greenspan, Robert Bixby, Ron Paul, David Walker and several presidents and other politicians. I would really love to see an updated version, now that our national debt has taken off even more than I believe they anticipated. You can watch the video on Netflix or in parts on youtube. Also there is a micro-version on youtube, which is probably good. (more…)

2009 Oxford Word of The Year!

Unfriend v. – “To remove someone as a ‘friend’ on a social networking site such as Facebook.”

There’s your 2009 Oxford word of the year. I like it. It certainly has slipped into my vocabulary and when I use the word, unfriend, everyone know what I mean. It is certainly a better choice than it’s twitter-related fellow finalist, “hashtag” or the political “birther”. I mean really… Who knew that was a way of describing someone who doesn’t believe Obama was born in the US? Also, according to Oxford lexicographer Christine Lindberg, the word has “real lex appeal”… Whatever that means. (more…)
