Farouk Shami… Can You Believe This Guy?!

Farouk Shami… Running for governor of the state of Texas. Palestine born, anti-Israeli, Farouk Shami. This guy makes me sick. I’ve seen him several times and met him on occasion. I saw the guy sit down at a restaurant with his driver, and then send his driver to sit at another table. He thinks because he has worked hard and lived the American dream (I can respect that) that he can be governor. Governor of the state of Texas! It’s ridiculous to even think of. Now this ridiculous man has taken another step to show how misguided and out of touch with reality he is.

Farouk Shami accused former Houston Mayor Bill White of being a racist, because White has a political ad in which he says he was born in San Antonio. ??? How does this make White racist? How is that not an important and relevant piece of information? All things being equal would you vote for the Texas native, or the Palestinian? And all things are not equal! I mean, I’m not going to be voting for Bill White (not in an election featuring Kay Bailey Hutchison and Rick Perry), but beyond that I don’t understand how any Texas could support a man like Farouk Shami! It grinds my gears. It’s so frustrating that I can hardly think straight.

  1. Who is Farouk Shami? The real issue is not necessarily his religion, but his credibility. Are his Public Statements factual or just Beauty Show hype?

Farouk in San Antonio (10/21/09): “I manage business in 106 countries, I have tens of thousands of employees, and we’ve brought billions of dollars to the state of Texas,” Shami said.

    Fact Check:
    • Farouk manufacturers the products and sells them to independent distributors/importers (in US and overseas), who in return sell to the salons. He DOES NOT manage these companies. They are his customers.
    • Likewise the employees of these distributors or the salons which use his products are NOT Farouk’s employees.
    • Farouk has always claimed that he sells only to the professional hairdressers, yet his products can be found in Wal-Mart, Costco, Target, HEB, as well as discount stores.

Yes, Farouk has done well for himself BUT… He is NOT the sole owner of his companies – Farouk claims (as well documented in many articles and interviews, and then repeated by the media) to be a Billionaire; however he is NOT listed on Forbes List of Billionaires – with his ego, he definitely would make sure that he would be listed if he just could prove it

    Farouk claims to be Quaker?
Having attended Quaker School does not make Farouk a Quaker – maybe that is all what was available at the time (or even today) for quality education in Ramallah.

    • Wikipedia: “The Friends School currently serves as the School for the best and the brightest. It is well known to educate the children of Palestinian elites.”
    • MilitantIslamMonitor: “Guilford College controversy Being Manipulated By CAIR -Quaker school tied to pro terrorist Friends school in Ramallah”
    • Farouk said that he is Quaker – his family told a reporter that he is Muslim – Farouk then clarified that he is Muslim-Quaker
    • King of Jordan had sent his personal message to Farouk Shami (to a Quaker?) during the last two company conferences – Amman, Jordan (2006) and Cancun, Mexico (2008)
    • Farouk is a member of, guest speaker to, and honored by many Muslim organizations – He is a member of the Board of the American Task Force on Palestine, as was Tareq Salahi, the Whitehouse party crasher
    • Shami : Muslim Media Network Sep 24, 2009 … Houston hair executive Farouk Shami says his focus is …. At his Annual Ramadan Dinner (Quaker?) at the Arab Cultural Center (ACC) Houston, …

    • Wow, that was really insightful. Thanks for the information.

  2. Is Farouk a Democrat? Or is this campaign about something else?

Thanks to Neil Aquino with Texas Liberal the “Palestine – Jerusalem is Ours” scarf has become an Internet conversation point. Scarves were being handed out and King gave his to Shami, who put it on, said campaign spokesman Charlie Ray. “It’s not Farouk’s scarf,” Ray said.

Farouk Shami as Grand Marshall of the MLK Parade in Houston – what an insult to Martin Luther King’s legacy! Have Palestinians ‘hijacked’ this cause as well?

Makes you wonder how these scarves just happened to be there – a coincidence? Particularly since DR. King was a strong and vocal supporter of Israel, and the Jews, who stood with him for the civil rights. MLK Parade support to a cause whose main purpose is the destruction of Israel and Jews, makes one wonder where is this coming from.

Has anyone seen Farouk’s denunciation of the official policies of Fatah, Hamas, Hezbollah, or Iran as to their goals and objectives of total and complete destruction of Israel? He is in favor of Right of Return; a back-door means to destroy Israel in the Two-State Solution.

To add insult to the injury, most people do not know that it was Arab Muslims who captured the blacks and sold them as slaves. In fact, the Arabic word for black and slave is the same, ”Abed.”

Not that we should be concerned with family members or should we?
    • Farouk’s brother Dr. Jamil Shami, Director, Academic & Cultural Affairs Saudi Embassy in Washington, DC for 28 years ( http://www.linkedin.com/pub/jamil-shami/11/987/90b ) founded Arab-American Republicans in the greater D.C. area.
    • In his culture (and business practice) – “cousins” (anyone with Middle Eastern heritage) make no mistakes and family “walks on water” , i.e. the actual professional qualifications are secondary in his mind
    • Any reference to Farouk’s family was removed from his campaign website after his son told a reporter that Farouk is a Muslim.

  3. […] him and like 19 other candidates. I’ve already covered why I’m am so anti-Farouk Here and Here so I won’t revisit that. But if you need another reason to hate him, listen to this […]
