Christopher Hitchens has found a cause.
It’s a pretty good one too.
In the northern Iraqi city of Sulaymaniya, the American University of Iraq has just opened its doors. And it is appealing for people to donate books.
So here’s what to do. Have a look at the university’s Web site. Get some decent volumes together, pass the word to your friends and co-workers to do the same, and send them off to:

I can’t help. I’m way too selfish, and I treasure each of my books — even the ones I hate. So I won’t say you should help; that would be borderline hypocritical.
But it is a good cause. Books are the lifeblood of independent thought, and they’re needed in Iraq.
